gigabyte ga x58 ud3 usb3 wont power up or turn on

hey guys i'm new here. i have
 
gigabyte ga x58 ud3 usb3 motherboard,
intel i7 960 3.02ghz,
16gb ddr3 ram,
160 hdd,
250 hdd,
500 hdd,
1 bluray rom,
1 hp lightscribe drive,
1 lg dvd drive,
geforce 210 1024 ddr3 video card ,
antech 650w psu,
windows 7 ultimate

everything work fine until two day ago i have been without electricity for 2 weeks due to hurricane sandy so getting back electricty 2 days ago i went to turn on my computer after it boot up i was playing some music then i stop and was searching for something then the system shuts off and since then it wont turn on when press the power button the leds flash and the fans start and stop but when i unplug the 8pin 12v cpu connector the board power up and lights stays on and everything seems to power up and as soon as i plug back the cpu connectors its dead.

Please can any one help me? does this mean i need a new mother board, i have been told it may be the cause of a power surge, i have it on a froza ups/serge protector

Hi and welcome.

I would say that it most likely has been damaged due to the storm. This is a very common event and the EMS that the storm produces can damage electronic components in a great many devices. In theory your UPS should stop this happening but not all UPS systems are up to standard. Most UPS are sold with a guarrantee that if they fail and your computer is damaged they will pay out. Can you post a link to your UPS on the forum here?

thanks  Dark Mantis for that info and how do i post a link to the ups? it is a FORZA SL_511 2 year warranty and i had it 1 year now
