ga-990fxa-ud7 vdroop

I have the 1.0 version of this board paired with an FX-8350 and must say I am disappointed with the amount of vdroop on this board. To get a stable OC at 4.8ghz I have to run 1.6 Vcore as I am getting between 0.128 and 0.144 drop when running prime. I am aware there has been a vdroop mod detailed on other forums, but not being handy with a soldering iron means its not really an option. Has there been been an instance of a trade in program for the 1.1 revision of this board by gigabyte? or is there another fix or workaround for this issue? I think its a shame that a board costing nearly £200 cannot achieve a decent overclock because of this

Welcome to the gigabyte forums. There are numerous threads about the vdrop issue and this board if you use the search function they should come up it will just take a little reading and some time. But it has been discussed in detail a few times as i have went thru a few of the threads.

also make sure you are using the latest bios.

As far as i know there hasnt been a fix unless it has happened after the f5 bios it goes to f10 now and maybe a fix has been part of the bios you would have to update bios to the f10 and retry, and there is no trade in program either.

Yeah I have read that thread, but the date of the last post is 10 months old and I wondered if something had happened in the meantime, apparently not!
Having the latest bios was a requirement for the FX-8350 cpu I have installed, so no luck there either. Soldering iron it is then...

Wish i could of given you better news i was going to buy that same 990 series board also but held of when they had that issue and all of them do from the 3 to the 5 and 7 so i am still waiting. In the meantime my 890fx ud5 works just fine.
