So,
I've recently had to reinstall from scratch my OS (Windows 7 x64) on an Assassin2.
To say I'm annoyed, well, that's sorta an understatement.
I'm going to vent (then ask for help):
1) The drivers provided by Gigabyte do not work. Period.
2) The drivers provided by Gigabyte check the Creative site for updates, but DO NOT DETECT THE ON-BOARD CREATIVE X-FI PROCESSOR. So they do not update themeslves.
3) If the drivers do no update themselves because they do not detect the on board Creative X-Fi chipset, WHY are the included in the Gigabyte Assassin2 X-Fi driver package?
4) It appears that both Windows and AMD/ATI video cards that allow HDMI support, are not compatible the current Gigabyte X-Fi audio drivers, which is causing audio not to work on my system. (The problem did not initally exist util I installed the ATI drivers, but there are FAR newer Creative drivers for their X-Fi products... which are known to fix these sort of issues.)
5) You can not disable the onboard audio to resolve the issue of poor driver support, by, believe it or not, installing a supported RETAIL Creative X-Fi Titanium HD PCIe card. [Yeah, that was my intended work around...]
Given the above:
I've got the most recent BIOS installed that I can get, good or bad, and it doesn't seem to help.
Does anyone else have any ideas as to why the Gigabyte Assassin2 audio isn't working on a clean install of Windows using the Gigabyte drivers?
