Updated BIOS using @BIOS Utility now machine will not Post

Hello all

I have just finished building a machine utilising the GA-EP45-DS3P Motherboard, Intel Core 2 Quad and 8GB of DDR2 800Mhz Memory.

Since I am using an ATI Radeon 5770 Gfx Card (GigaByte GV-R577D5-1GD-B) I updated the BIOS to the latest version as I was told that the latest version fixes some incompatibilities with the Radeon 57xx series cards.

Now the machine will not Post with no Beeps at all, the machine just keeps Rebooting.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Hello

Thanks for the reply.

The BIOS update was for the Motherboard, the GA-EP45-DS3P.

I tried pressing the 'Clear CMOS' button on the Motherboard with no success.

Is there another recommended way to clear the CMOS?

Also, this Motherboard has Dual BIOS so do you know how I can boot from the Backup BIOS?

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas

Kevin

Hi,
The backup image of the bios is stored in the boot sector of the hard drive and if the motherboard bios is corrupt it will automaticly be accessed,
Remove the CMOS battery, turn off the PSU switch or unplug it; do the clear CMOS procedure and leave the jumper in the 'clear' position for 5-10 minutes. Sometimes the mobo capacitors have to drain fully to clear it.
check out this link for more info, http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,163.msg1070.html#msg1070
If you have a reset comos button just remove battery as above,
Hope this works for you,
Cheers

Hello again

I removed the battery and put a jumper across the 'Clear CMOS' pins and after 20 minutes I am back in business.

Odd thing is that after the system Recovered the BIOS it was the version I Flashed the BIOS with in the first place.

Thanks for the help.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Kevin
