EP45T-UD3LR problems with mushkin ddr3-1600

Here's a reference to a thread at mushkin for background info...

http://forums.mushkin.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15025

A moderator there helped me get my DDr3-1600MHz 7-7-7-20 running at DDR3-1333 6-6-6-18 stable.  Why can I not get this memory to run at 1600MHz?

And another thing is that I am unable to change the command rate for the memory from 2t.  Settings 0-4 in bios (0 being auto and I assume 1 and 2 would be 1t and 2t).  No matter what I set CPUz shows 2t, along with other programs I have.

Why can I not get this memory to play nice with my mobo? ???  I would REALLY like to try some other command rate settings other than 2t!!!

Thanks guys.

hmmm weird.

they're not stable at 1600 7-7-7-20 either with 1.84-1.96v (anywhere in between) either. I've moved MCH up and down as well.  Any idea about that?

Thanks for that link.  Those test results are actually slower than mine at 1417 6-6-6-18 @ 1.8v, stable, primed for 12 hours.  I just don't understand why they're not stable at 1600.  Memtest will show 1 error is the closest I got with voltage on the MCH and vdimm.  Anything that boots will fail within seconds in prime at 1600.

here is the answer:
http://www.giga-byte.co.uk/FileList/MemorySupport/motherboard_memory_ga-ep45t-ud3lr.pdf

as you can see there all faster modules are downgraded to 1333, so most probably it's the max supported speed of ram for this mobo

so why does gigabyte plaster "2200+MHz FSB OCed" all over their boxes then if the only advantage is....well a faster FSB but you gotta lower your multiplier and change the memory divider so it's running near 1333...but hey....at least the FSB and MCH are working harder than need be.  Score.

Thanks for the link of supported memory btw.  I saw that before.  I never really buy into those lists cause they can't possibly test ALL modules to see who works. And the few that they do try...every one is probably on that list within reason.

Anywho,  I got the memory working faster than 1600 7-7-7-20 right now, 1417 6-6-6-18, 425 FSB.  About 500KB/s faster on read/write than 1600 according to everest.  1600 just wont pass memtest or prime.  I'm still well below spec voltage on them too right now @1417 so I think I may have room to work.

Well thanks for the help guys.  This is the first computer I built and I think gigabyte's box art needs some fine print about that "2200+!!!".  I'm stoked it runs faster than spec timings and freq right now but it just irks me that it won't run at 1600.  That's all.

Happy puting all! :)
