USB 3.0 micro ATX dilemma
« on: January 08, 2010, 04:57:27 pm »
Hi.

I am intending to do a uATX build quite soon involving an Intel Core i5-750. I was planning on getting a Gigabyte P55m-UD4... ...and then the P55A motherboards came out with USB 3.0 onboard. This was interesting as I am planning on getting a portable hard drive with USB 3.0 for backup, once a range of these appear on the market which they surely soon will.

By the way, just to check about the Gigabyte USB 3.0 implementation: presumably the graphics card is only restricted to 8 lanes while USB 3.0 is actually in use??

Anyway my build will be uATX, not ATX, and so the release of the P55As without any corresponding P55m-USB3 was frustrating. Does any one have any advice on what I should do / what I should buy?

I could get an H57M-USB 3.0, what might I lose in so doing? How will it compare in price to a P55M-UD4? Could there be a P55M with USB 3.0 in the works?
