Help With Memory Timings Please

Hello,

I've built a new system 2 days using the Gigabyte P55A-UD3R, Intel i7 chip and Corsair CMX8GX3M4A1333C9 memory.

But even with just Windows installed I keep getting screen freezes and failed start ups (Win7 64bit Home Premium).

Someone told me my memory timings might be to blame, but they are set on Auto, and I don't know what to set them too to get a stable system.
I've recently set the "Performance Enhance" from Turbo to Standard, but that makes no difference.

The memory's CAS Latency is    9-9-9-24 and the voltage is 1.5v.

At the moment I can't even load Windows or run the Repair feature before Windows without it freezing.
It seems to longer the machine has been on the more problems I have (5 hours plus).

Can anyone tell me in basic terms how I set my memory settings manually and what to set them to ?

hi,
set your memory to vendors settings
check using one stick to start, and run MEM test on each stick if you have more than one
note in the manual the correct slots to use,
install the minumum hardware outside of case and add other hardware one at a time
use a small speaker to see if you have any beeps on post

I'm not sure how to set the settings to their correct values.

I downloaded the Mem test program, but I think it's only for 32bit OS's, it wouldn't let me run it on Win7 64bit.

 you will have to create a cd or usb to run memtest and boot into it,

I ran the test and found no errors using version 4 of the software.

However my computer is still emitting a random single beep through the case's internal speaker. Others have reported simply problems with the P55A-UD3.

My case doesn't have a speaker, so I'm not sure if it beeps or not. Plus I've disabled Hibernation.
I've had a look at the Corsair site, but when I look in my BIOS, I can't find any mention to XMP in the memory settings.

At the moment and when I first installed Windows 7, I seem to be getting random screen freezes.
Sometimes it's so bad I have to switch off my PC for a few hours, as I can't even get it to start up without a freeze.
