Enabling Intel Rapid Start Technology in BIOS GA-Z77-D3H
« on: December 19, 2012, 04:45:08 pm »
I am building a new system and am unable to enable the RST in Bios.

The mSATA SSD I have installed is a Crucial M4 CT032M4SSD3 32 GB.  I have looked around on the net and this mem should work.    It does recognize the drive and has disabled SATA II #5, but I am still unable to enable the RST.   I have not installed the OS yet because I want to make sure this is all working before I do.   The HDD I want to use is a velociraptor.

What am I doing wrong - or am I?

In reading further in the manual I see that the BIOS settinngs for Rapid Start Technology are set in software after OS installation. I had not read ahead in the manual because I was not yet ready to install the OS.

A note in the Rapid Start Technology BIOS setting section of the manual that it is set in software after installing the OS would be very helpful.

As a postscript, that mSATA SSD does not work with my mobo.

It will set up for both Rapid Start and Smart Response, but will not actually work.  Write-back cache feature will not enable.   The memory is incompatible.
