Fan Control seems to be useless in FM2 Board

Fan Control seems to be useless in FM2 Board

Recently I decided to upgrade my FM system from FM1 to FM2, I bought a flashy brand new F2A85X-UP4 motherboard as it had great reviews, and it's performance was great with the A10-5800K. And so it is.

However. It's fan control options are horrible and disgusting, unless there is something I am doing horribly wrong.
My CPU cooler is a 3pin Cooler Master N520 which still maintain PWM capability as per the coolers specifications, which is true. It worked perfectly regulating RPM's in my GA-A75-S2V motherboard for my FM1 system. Without using any third party software. Not even gigabytes tuning software.

With this new FM2 board however, the BIOS insists in running it at 100% even though I've changed every possible configuration in the BIOS, it's still locked at 1800RPM, Automatic Detection, Voltage, PWM. Silent,Manual,Disable, blah blah. It will not change whatsoever.

Since this was causing irritation to me (the fan is fairly quiet even at full speed, but I have no need for it to run that fast even overclocked) I went ahead and gave EasyTune6 a try since it was included in my motherboards CD. It has a so called fan control section to it.

It does nothing. As simple as that. I tried plugging in a 4pin fan to see if maybe it would make a difference but no, both bios and easy tune will not regulate the speed properly. Even on different fan connectors in the motherboard, it is all the same, and if this motherboard has an extra something, that's Fan headers. None of the 5 albeit being 4pin, will work... even with  a 4pin fan.

That leads me to believe that either I am doing something horribly wrong, or that this might have been a detail overlooked by gigabyte in this particular board.

Also I would like to note that Speedfan is the only software that lets me regulate the fan speed, but not automatically. However, I don't have time or the means to change my fans speed manually. Motherboards are supposed to be able to set the RPM accordingly to temperature automatically for a reason.

Any insight would be appreciated, at least to know if I'm doing something wrong, or if I should just go ahead and RMA this board for faulty fan headers.

Cooler Master N520 is not PWM. PWM requires 4 wires.

i don't know where it is in your bios but you need to set fan control to 'Voltage'
