GA-Z77X-D3H / i5 3570 / 2 * 8 Gb DD3 - No sign of life
« on: February 09, 2013, 01:56:35 pm »
Hi,

I've just swapped my MB / CPU and RAM for the above and am not getting any sign of life from the MB.

I have unplugged everything bar the CPU and still no sign of life - I would expect the CPU fan to fire up as this is what happened when I plugged the old MB in again.

The old MB is a GA-P35C-DS3R with a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo, so I am expecting the 650W power supply that was running that to be ok with the new MB.

I am a bit stumped as to what to do to determine where the fault is, and any suggestions will be very gratefully received.

Kind Regards,

absic

Hi there,

Have you checked for the possibility of a short circuit? Try putting together the basic components on a cardboard box, double check all power connections and see if you get any signs of life then. If you're not sure how to do this check here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,5704.msg45814.html#msg45814  where I go through this process in detail.

Hi,

Yes, I have had the MB out of the case, isolated, no CPU - just the CPU fan connected, and powered it up.  With the old MB the fan runs and a light comes on, on the MB.  With the new MB, nothing at all.

I am now assuming that it is DOA and, unless you have an alternative possibility,I will return it for a replacement.

Kind Regards,

The Mobo won't start without the CPU mounted.

No, no signs of life bare or with CPU, RAM etc.
