hey guys

i just got this motherboard off ebay, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/111008963943?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_500wt_1414 - getting a 3570k but i cant find any info if the motherboard will run ivy bridge, only sandy bridge. if anyone could give me some info on this i would greatly appreciate it. i think i have read that you need to update the bios to f10 to run ivy bridge if thats the case can i still do it with the 3570k in it or will it need to be done with a sandy bridge cpu i do know about pcs but i have never had to flash one before
can it be done without the cpu in it (that may be a dumb question lol )

Hi there,

yes this motherboard will run the 3570k but as you have read it will need the F10 BIOS to do so.

Bad news is that you will probably need a supported Sandybridge CPU to update the BIOS if it doesn't come with the F10 and the only way of discovering this is to try it with the 3570K. This won't harm the board, it just won't start if the CPU isn't supported.

And the answer is no, you cannot flash the BIOS without a supported CPU mounted.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.
