Z77 UD5H Won't recognize full 3TB at OS install

Z77 UD5H Won't recognize full 3TB at OS install
« on: March 06, 2013, 09:09:32 am »
My 64 bit windows disc only recognizes 746 GB of my 3 TB drive when I go to install Windows 7 64bit.

I have the Seagate 7200.14 3TB drive and a 120 GB corsair force GT that I have hooked up when booting from the Windows 7 disc.  I have it set to raid, with the drives unconfigured so I can set up intel smart response caching.

How do I get the full 3 TB (aka 2.79 GB) recognized?

Btw, when I boot from my 256 GB ssd that has my old OS, the 3 TB drive shows its full capacity.  It only shows 746GB when I try to install the win 7 64bit OS.

What am I missing?

Try installing from the AHCI controller to see how it reads the drive. What might be happenning is went you have the intel smart controller set it might reading part of the drive as cache.

In order to set up SRT, you have to have it set to RAID.  I have tried disconnecting the SSD and it still only shows up as 746GB.  Just to see what happens, I did set it to ACHI and it does recognize the full 3TB, but in order to set up caching, I have to install the OS using the RAID setting.
