NVidia Titan compatibility in z68 mobo with 3770k CPU
« on: March 14, 2013, 03:06:03 pm »
I just tried to install my GTX Titan's into my Z68X-UD4-B3 mobo and I can't even post to bios. I am running the lastest bios for my motherboard as I needed to for my upgrade from my 2600k to my 3770k, it is a UEFI bios I am now running but I believe it's not the full UEFI bios as the Z68 chipset isn't powerfull enough to run 3d UEFI etc.
I believe my problem lies in the fact the Titan is the first nVidia gpu to have a UEFI bios and that i'm not fully running a UEFI bios. Due to me running a 3770k and a z68 mobo. Funny thing is both my GPU's and my mobo are Gigabyte.
I have retested my "old" GTX 680's and they work fine. Retested both Titans and the same issue occurs.

Couple people with the same issue but they have fixed it with a bios update are as follows.

P.s..I don't have a more recent bios to update to... I do have the most recent bios to update to...
I am running bios U1D, the latest for my mobo.

Pic is to a post from Jacob from EVGA, so this is a know issue.

Next is a link to a guy who fixed the same issue with a bios update.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The U1c supports UEFI. It came out 09/2012 If you are running the U1d I don't know where you got that one from because the U1c is the lastest bios.

Plus one other thing is that you are lucky that you are getting your 680 cards to run in a z68 board.

There are a lot poeple having problem with this board and 3.0 cards. This is 2.0 board with 2nd Generation Cpu.

Yes with the new bios F10 update you should be able to the 3.0 cards. Like most MB companies they are trying to do something Stupid.

By updating a board that was made to support 2nd Generation Cpu's and 2.0 cards.

U1D is the latest beta bios. I rolled back to U1C last night and have the same issue.
I had no problems running my 680's they even ran in pic 3.0 8x mode after I upgraded to the 3770k.

Where did you get the U1d from because Gigabyte isn't showing it in the bios updates.

You know that if Gigabyte doesn't have it. I would never download from somebody else.

Show me where that Gigabyte has that bios.

Yes that is nice and I would never use them. That is nice that you can update the bios so you can run a better CPU and 3.0 video card.

But the board was made for the 2nd Generation Cpu & 2.0 video cards. The best thing he could do is get a Z77 board that is made to support that maybe.

Plus the pictures that he posted the guy was having a problem and he is running a Z77 EVGA board. So how is a 2 yr old Z68 going to work.
