Gigabyte z77x up4th HDD not being detected
« on: March 15, 2013, 02:42:52 pm »
I recently setup a new rig with brand new parts (list below). I setup up everything and installed windows 7 sp1 including all the drivers from the dvd from motherboard dvd as well as a couple of games (league of legends, diablo 3).
Computer was up and running for a full day without any hiccups then computer suddenly shuts crashes without any blue screen error.
I then tried restarting the machine but the computer would post then load to windows login screen then freezes/restarts again

Tried to reinstall windows after resetting and now the mb isnt picking up the hard drive

I've tried using different power as well as sata cables to no avail as the computer just isnt picking up the hard drive. I know that it isnt the hard drive as i was able to use the hard drive in my much older (4+years) machine without worry

PARTS LIST:

COOLER MASTER HAF 912 Mid Tower Computer Case
GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UP4 TH Motherboard
EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
CORSAIR HX series HX650 650W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo)Quad-Core Desktop Processor

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

I am at a loss at what to do

Try clearing the cmos and taking the battery out for about and hour. Than try it again and if it isn't still there then the sata controller went bad

Looks like it is  RMA time. I look at the bios and there is nothing in about sata controller problems and nothing in the FAQ.
