Z68X-UD4-B3 problem after bios update.
« on: March 22, 2013, 09:19:59 am »
Hi after I update the bios from U1C to the last U1E I have 2 problems: 1) The mouse didn't move on bios menu like before. I must unplugged and plugged again to recognize it. 2) When I start the PC I take 1 long beep about 4-5 sec and after that I log in Windows normally (i think). Is a problem that long beep  because a friend of mine says that this is not good sounds like this?

What kind of problem were you having before you updated the bios? I know if you have one short beep it telling everything is OK.

There is no beep code for that one long. Maybe you are get this one and don't hear the short beep. 1 long beep & 1 short beep memory or system error.

I have been slam on this one before about telling people don't update the Bios unless you are having problem.

I had problem with my hard discs. I had 3 hard discs on my system. One windows and 2 spare. Sometimes I logged in windows and the spare hard discs was disappeared. I boot many times to be recognized them again. So I update bios as a solution to my problem . Hard discs are ok for now but I have the beep problem. I can hear it only one long beep about 4-5 seconds.

So when you are in windows you are not see any problems at all. What kind of keyboard Usb or ps2? If it is Usb maybe it isn't seeing it like the mouse.

Beeps:

1 short system boots successfully
2 short cmos setting error
1 long 1 short memory or system error
1 long 2 short Monitor or graphics card error
1 long 3 short keyboard error
1 long 9 short bios Rom error
continuous long beeps Graphics card error not inserted property
continuous short beeps Power error

I use usb keyboard and mouse. Nothing of these beeps is that I hear. It is only 1 long beep I'm sure. I reflash back to U1C and It's ok with mouse and beeps but I still have the same problems with hard discs.

The reason I was asking is that if you are having a problem with the mouse with that bios update

Then your are maybe having the same problem with the keyboard and the bios is not seeing it.

If the computer is booting up with that bios and it fix the hard drive problem I would run that one.

If you can report this to Gigabyte maybe they can fix it in the next update. If you have an old ps2 keyboard plug that one in see if that fixes it.

I don't have problem with the keyboard. It is usb both. I'll stay with U1C until gigabyte fix in the next update. Thanks for your help.

I had this problem when I first moved to UEFI. Try enable Port 60/64 Emulation! That's what did it for me.
If that doesn't help then try to have your BIOS initialize ALL of your USB ports upon start-up, since some UEFI will only boot a minimal amount of ports before going into Windows.
