I just bought components to build a new computer.

motherboard - ga-990fxa-ud5
corsair vengence 16GB 2x8 GB ddr 3 ram 1866mhz
AMD- FX8350 8 core processor
xfx AMD-HD Radeon 7870 2gb gaphics card
120 gb ssd drive
1tb Hard drive
cd/dvd RW
850 watt cooler master power supply
Arctic Freeze cooling fan and heat sink

I put it all together the pc turns on beeps once very short then loads the AMD white screen where it has logos of everything and options at the bottom hit del etc etc  then it goes to boot disk and the computer just shuts itself off

any ideas what is causing this to happen.

Stupid question, do you have any OS installed? Setting the SSD as the primary I assume :)

I actually figured it out through three hours of trial and error.

basically, i had an arctic freezer fan heat sink combo, when i replaced that one with the fan heat sink that came with the AMD fx-8350 it stayed on and ran.  Set up my bios and installed windows 7 and it works fine.

the only thing i can think of is the motherboard wasn't sensing the fan and it was shutting down as a safety precaution?  Which doesnt make sense cause the arctic freezer fan unit was running when it was plugged in?  Anyways, replacing the arctic freezer heat sink with the AMD one did the trick.  New build works fine.  Now i just have to figure out how to set get windows to recognize my 1tb data hdd and not just my SSD

thanks for your response
