Intel SATA RAID driver for Win 7 64 bit install with GA-EP45-UD3R Rev 1.1

Hi ,

Intel RAID and Win 7 Home Premium newbie. Short version of long story - replaced old dead RAID Drives in Win XP system with (2) new 500GB Drives plus plan to upgrade RAM to 8GB (would have liked more but $$$) and install new OS = WIN 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.

MB is GA-EP45-UD3R Rev 1.1 and I am having trouble figuring out how to get, prepare and install the Intel RAID Drivers for 64 Bit Win 7 HP.

My main problem is that on the Gigabyte site they offer two RAID Drives.

The first "pre-install" driver extract to a 64Bit (bootdisk - Win XP 64?) and the second  Driver extracts to a (iata_cd.exe).

This is where I am totally lost. Which RAID Driver, and from where, do I install during the clean install of Win 7 64 bit.

I get the need for a USB Stick/Thumb Drive with the RAID Driver on it that Win 7 will ask to be pointed at, but which Driver?

I cannot extract anything from the iata_cd.exe. Tried 7-Zip, Universal Extractor and File Alyser - I do not see a Win 7 64Bit Raid Driver??

Do I point Win 7 at the whole file??

The first Driver states that it is for Win XP 64 Bit or Win Server 2003 64 Bit but it is extractable to MSM> 64Bit> ? But it is stated for Win XP 64 bit?

My new RAM and OS arrived this morning and I have installed the new RAM so I really need help with the RAID Driver and Win 7 64 bit install urgently.

You need to put it on USB flash drive. That is the only way that you will get it to work.

I just did it with my X79-UD3 board with two SSD drives. Once windows get past the screen install now that is when it will ask you for the driver.

Just unzip the driver and load it on to the flash drive. Just all the files and not in a folder.

Which Driver? Do you mean the Pre-install Win XP 64 Bit Driver?

Plus if I remember right all you do is setup the raid and windows will try care of the rest. I don't thing you need a driver for that board to install windows 7. Just give it a try and in the mean time I'll try it on my GA-EP45T-USB3P.

I just tested mine and like I said that you just setup the Raid and than let windows do the rest.

Plus if it takes a long time for windows to get to where you can see the partition just let it run.

There is no driver needed when windows installs. You will have to install a driver after windows has installed.

You are correct. With my GA-EP45_UD3R Rev 1.1 Bios Version F6, Window 7 Home Premium 64 Bit Installed perfectly by itself on a SATA RAID (1) Array.

No requests for any SATA Driver and it recognized the RAID (1) Array with out a problem.

If you even want to upgrade to a new board. You better get out the flash drive.

I had to install a driver on my X79 board just before it got to the screen showing the hard drives.
