Flashing bios on 970-ud3 rev 1.1
« on: April 23, 2013, 12:43:38 pm »
I am on version F3. Thinking of upgrading CPU but I need F7 bios. Is there a problem flashing up 4 versions or should I do it incrementally?

Thanks.

There shouldn't be a problem flashing straight to the latest version, I have done this many times over the years without issue. But, it is safer to go up in smaller steps if you have the time & patience to do this.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Like absic said ,there should be no issue upgrading.

I have version 1.0 of the board and it worked to upgrade from F3 to F5.My board is version 1.0.
Mine is already back in it s box ,after one and a half year of  usage , due to the good experiences i ve had with it.

I recommend you to use BIOS-es one at a time and not to jump to the last , as all of them have random issues either with USB 3.0 controller, either with the SATA controller, either with CPU throttling or with memory compatibility.
So upgrade to F5  ,install the CPU and observe what happens. If with F5 you have issues running Steam games go for F6
Then, if you encounter issues go for F7 and so on.
Keep in mind BIOS support is slow and compatibility seems to be strange with FX CPU-s for versions under 3.0.
Over & Out !

AMD FX (APU-s included) users should install - KB2645594 & KB2646060 under Windows 7
