Need help with Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H motherboard
« on: May 07, 2013, 05:46:00 pm »
Hi,

I am new to pc building. Recently, I try to build a pc. Everything is OK but only the LAN part had a problem. The network cable will repeatedly unplugged, enabled and identifying when there is large amount of usage of data. I followed the solution I saw on line by changing the speed and duplex settings to 10 Mbps full duplex. At first, it solved the problem but again after large amount of data used, the network shows there is no internet access (Yellow exclamation mark) . I am sure the modem has no problem at all as I tried to use it with another computer(Same cable also). My drivers are also updated and I tried to reinstall the driver also. Gigabyte dealer had exchanged a motherboard for me already but the problem persists. My home speed is very slow(1 Mbps, 1 Kbps download speed, 0.3 Kbps upload speed). Can it be the cause?

Please help me with this issue.  :( Thank you very much.  :)

My computer:
Intel i5-3570K
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H REV 1.1
Kingston HyperX 2x4 GB RAM 1333 MHz
Gigabyte Nvidia Geforce GTX 650Ti
Corsair ATX power supply VS550
Cooler Master Centurion 6 Casing

Network Adapter: Qualcomm Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)

Do you have a PCI network card? What I would try is disable the onboard lan.

Install a network card and see if you still have the same problem.

One other thing is try and update the bios and see if that takes care of it.

To dmdilks,

The bios is considered the most updated except the BETA bios. I have ordered the PCI Network card. I think will reach today. I am planning to SLI 2 GTX660 soon.. If I am using PCI network card. I will be used up one slot. >.<

Thank you for your reply.=]

To dmdilks,

Thank you for your help. I have found the problem. This is because my network driver is not up to date. Both Gigabyte official website and CD do not contain the latest driver. I tried to search on the net to update my network driver to the latest version and it works perfectly. Thank you very much.;P

I'm having the exact same problem as well. Where do you download the most updated driver other than the one on official website? The problem occurs everytime I open a browser and start browsing. After restart the PC, network will be connected again, and if I start browsing, problem occurs again.

Hi quekzai,

Thank for infos. I give a Karma for you.
With a applaud link below your user name.

I find here:
http://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?v_page=23&v_code=37992

and here, on official web site, Qualcomm Atheros:
AR816X QCA817X Family Drivers
http://www.qca.qualcomm.com/corporate/content.php?nav1=146

You have a choice for DOS and Windows and other OS drivers.

I have detect my Realtek LAN and drivers with this Link:
http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/wireless
Use IExplorer, no Firefox.
So is not necessary to have Intel LAN.

So the Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 drivers are not for me.
Is for user members ... on motherboard with LAN chip Atheros.

Other infos about AR8161 issues:
