Does GA-G31-S3L  support windows 8?

If yes, what are the updates required?

I tried but got the message, "Windows could not retrieve information about the disks on this computer."

Please help?

It is more your DVD drive causing the problem. It happen to me and I change out the DVD drive and than installed.

I don't think that Windows 8 supports the older chipset like your ICH7.
