GA-Z87X-OC HELP

Hello, i have a quick question that i need answered. For the top power cables, it is an 8 pin and a 4 pin. The only cable i have is a 4+4 pin, so how would i go about hooking it up? is the 4 pin optional? THanks for any help

you write about cable PSU for CPU 12v power plug on motherboard?

About 8-pins +12volts power connectors....
 
About 4-pins +12volts power connectors....

Reformulate your situation.

Please describe your actual PSU with web link of brand, and other hardware....

Here is what i mean.  The top of the motherboard has an 8 pin connector as well as a 4 pin connector.

I only have a 4+4 pin cable,

Because of this, I was wondering if i could just plug it into the 8 pin, and not use the 4 pin at all

I have the GA-Z87X-UD3H with a 4+4 connector. Works fine with only a 4pin connector (other 4 unplugged). It's only there to allow higher voltages to your processor during overclocking to prevent the connectors overheating and fusing with your board.

OK, thanks for the help.  Now that i got that figured out, I went to turn it on, but i keep getting error 19 and 15, which are pre memory south bridge initialization and pre memory north bridge initialization.  I have tried clearing the cmos, both bios, different combinations of ram, remounting the cpu, no ram, outside the case, battery discharge button, but none of it will stop the errors.  Does anybody have anything else for me to try? or should i just RMA it for a new one?

Hi rc dude,

When you go to Bios, have you make a Load Optimized Default?

When you have make a Flash bios... have you disabled Keep DMI Data ?

4+4 Pin is the same as a single 8-Pin.

It's just that your PSU 8-Pin Cable is designed to be used on motherboards with only a 4-Pin.

So you simply plug in the 4+4 Pin in the 8-Pin header. (Hold them both together and plug it in the 8-Pin)
