GA-Z77-UP4 TH With 16Gb Ram
« on: June 17, 2013, 11:32:45 pm »
Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone could give me a bit of advice -

I have a GA-Z77-UP4 TH with BIOS F10b, with an Intel i7 3770 3.40, and I am looking to install this memory, Patriot Intel Extreme Masters 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Quad Channel Kit

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-069-PA&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813

From what I have gathered, the standard BIOS settings (optimised defaults) are not suitable for 16Gb of RAM, and some of the voltages need to be tweaked in order for the memory to function correctly... sadly, that is where I am stuck  :(

As far as I can tell, the CPU/VTT voltage is set to 1.05, but should be increased to allow for the increased memory, any idea how much this should go up by? Would other factors such as CPU speeds etc affect how much it should be increased?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Have you tried the memory by installing all 4 sticks and just set the speed to 1600? Or will all 4 sticks run at default settings that is 1333.

I actually had 2 x 8gb sticks in my machine, but one became faulty - afte reading around some forums I beleive it was because the CPU/VTT was too low for 16GB. I have placed an order for a new set of ram, 4 x 4GB sticks, and was wondering what the correct voltage should be to cope with 16Gb (I use my PC with alot of virtual machines, IDEs, remote connections etc so having the 16Gb helps alot!)

The default value in my BIOS is 1.050, would 1.10 be enough? I'm just afraid of damaging another set of RAM!  ???

Use this parameters on Bios:
MIT >> Advanced Memory Settings >> XMP: "Profile1"
If fail, Choose in timing Ram : Command Rate : 2T
MIT >> Advanced Memory Settings >> Performance Enhance; "Standard"
Otherwise, manuelly setting to 1600mhz
MIT >> Advanced Voltage Settings >> QPI/VTT: "Normal"

If your RAM are not compatible XMP profile... Chose SPD profile....
Check your RAM on the official web site of brand...
