Windows and HWMonitor reads APU too high of a temp

Windows and HWMonitor reads APU too high of a temp
« on: June 19, 2013, 04:37:59 am »
Just purchased a F2A85XM-D3H motherboard along with a AMD APU 6800k-A10. I like it but for except for one problem.

The CPU fan runs much faster than it needs too. HWMonitor reads the APU anywhere between 50 Degrees and as high as 125 Degrees. (Celsius)
But using EasyTune6 and SpeedFan both say that its operating between 30-60 degrees. I've replaced the stock heatsink and fan with a thermaltake 92mm fan and even went as far as using Arctic Clean thermal paste remover and purifier to clean it too. And reapplied Arctic Silver and still same result. I've installed all 3 bios versions to make sure it wasn't a bug that could have developed in the latest update. All three produced the same result.

Any ideas what could be the problem? The CPU fan running at full blast much of the time is disturbing and irritating.

What is the temperature in the BIOS ?!

HW Monitor is quite off in reading APU temps ,a lot of bogus info.

You should apply a thin film of thermal paste, use a copper base cooler.
Under 70 Celsius you are ok.
The case will  affect the temps ,make sure there is proper airflow.

The HW monitor section in the BIOS should allow you to set for the fan either manual either some other setting/preset.I am using such fan preset with my FM 2 Gigabyte mobo and it even works with  a 3 pin CPU fan installed on my old Hyper TX 2 .

Over & Out !

AMD FX (APU-s included) users should install - KB2645594 & KB2646060 under Windows 7

1.ASUS Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 + FX 6300 + H60
2.MSI A88X-G41 PC Mate + A8 5600K + Hyper TX 2
3.Gigabyte F2A75-D3H + A4 5300
4.ASUS AM1M-A + Athlon 5150

The BIOS temps are what they should be I guess. Anywhere between 40*C to 70*C since the BIOS runs the CPU at 100% for monitoring purposes. But what's weird is that Both EasyTune 6 and speed fan read the same temperatures, even right now as I'm typing this SpeedFan is showing the CPU at 14*C. And Case temp is at 30*C. And I've tried to set the fan controls to manual, but windows overrides it and does its own thing. Case has a 120 mm in the front and a 90mm in the back.

One of the reviews that I had read about the motherboard, someone had the same issue as I am describing. But instead of mine being about 2x the actual temp, his was halved. So I don't think that this is isolated.
