z77n-wifi - Can't get widi installed/working

Hey, 1st post. I've tried googling this but still can't seem to find any solution, so I joined the forums to see if someone can help.

As the title suggests, I can't get Widi working on the Z77n-wifi motherboard. Also, I'm using Windows 8 64, which probably doesn't help matters.

When trying to install the widi display drivers, it says "This platform is not compatible with Intel Widi". It says on the gigabyte page for this mobo that it is compatible.

Any ideas? Hopefully I've given enough info atm. Cheers

My bios version is F2

I have installed the Wifi share and WLAN drivers and then try to install the wifi display drivers again (Setup4.0.18.0) and it says the same thing "The platform is not compatible with Intel WiDi or the application is in use. Please the log for more details"

But I've no idea where the log would be stored?

I also don't see anything for wifi in the bios?

Have you tried the F3f beta BIOS from TweakTown ( available here: http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/28441-gigabyte-latest-beta-bios.html ) to see if that helps at all?

Also, have you checked that you are connecting things properly? Sorry if it seems a stupid question but check the Intel info here: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/wireless/wireless-display/ to see if it offers anything to help as it is easy to miss something simple as I have learnt from past experience.

Cheers, I'll have a go at the 'GA-Z77N-WiFi - F3f' bios.

If the bios or flash goes pear shaped, how do I make the backup bios engage? I read somewhere that I need to hold the power button on when switching on the PSU? Just want to be clear in case it happens - I had a gigabyte years ago that I killed and couldn't figure out how to get the other bios loading and stayed away from them since.

With the connecting question, I have a LG LM660T TV with Widi support and I enable it in the settings, but I don't have anything on the PC to enable or clone the screen to that TV. I might easily be missing something though?

Update time

I managed to install the F3f bios via q-flash in the bios (after making sure my 64gb usb stick was formatted to Fat32) and the Intel WiDi drivers were still not installing. So the next thing I did was remove my 7850 graphics card to allow the built in motherboard one to kick in and install it's drivers. And finally the Intel WiDi drivers installed! But now I can't seem to find my TV. It has Wifi Screen Share on but the TV or PC can't see each other Legacy support in the new Intel WiDi drivers didn't help either.

Also, putting the 7850 graphics card back into the machine, the Intel Widi app no longer works :/

Any suggestions?
