GA‑Z77N‑WIFI and unresponsive wireless keyboard

GA‑Z77N‑WIFI and unresponsive wireless keyboard
« on: July 11, 2013, 10:04:32 am »
Hello,

I have a GA‑Z77N‑WIFI motherboard and a Logitech K520 wireless usb Keyboard/mouse.  The OS is Windows 7.  There are 6 HDDs in the system; 4 using the motherboard SATA ports and 2 connected via a SATA card in the PCI-e slot.  The drives are not RAIDed.  There are no other USB peripherals connected.  Symptom happens whether I connect the usb receiver to either the usb 2 or usb 3 ports.

The problem is the keyboard seems to sporadically become unresponsive,  The mouse (communicates to the same usb receiver) always behaves fine.  The keyboard and mouse behave fine on two other computers I use them with so it is not a faulty keyboard or that the batteries need replacing.  Sometimes unplugging the receiver and plugging it back in corrects the problem for a while.

I am not 100% sure it is a motherboard problem, I suppose it could be some software issue, but is there any BIOS setting that might be affecting this?  Or any other advice that might help? As far as I know I have the current BIOS and relevant drivers.

Yes, that is the motherboard.  The OS is Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit.  I saw some of the links on the logitech site, but none of them really helped.  The keyboard and mouse are fine on two other computers on my desk and even the mouse is fine on the GA mobo PC; it is just the keyboard that becomes sluggish on the GA mobo PC.

I'll keep looking around.  I don't really have the time to do a bunch of incremental testing to try to identify exactly what is causing the problem.  The only USB setting I think I saw in the BIOS was to enable "legacy mode" which seemed to make no difference.

I'm not sure the GA mobo is the problem, but I just wondered if someone here had seemed something similar.  I wasn't coming up with much from Google of others having a similar enough problem.  For some the mouse was sluggish which is not my issue, and for others it was a wired keyboard that was unresponsive.  I think I have a wired usb keyboard somewhere I can probably try without too much hassle, but my assumption is that will work.  I don't have a keyboard with the old-style ps/2 connector to try.

Thanks,
David
