Gigabyte GA-F2A85XM-D3H and Kingston HyperX 3K 240gb Ssd
« on: November 08, 2013, 08:57:22 pm »
Hi
I'm new to the forums and have just purchased the above ssd. I have been trying to set this up to boot with win8 but have failed miserably. The bios sees the drive but if I try to install win8 on it windows does not see it at when you choose what drive to install it to.  Next I'm going to just leave the ssd connected to see if it works.
If anyone can help me with a step by step guide on how to set it up I would appreciate it.

Many thanks

First i would hook it to another computer that already has windows installed. Then right click my computer and go to manage. in the window that opens go to disk management and make sure it is initalized and formatted using NTFS file system after that take it back to your computer and try again should work now.

Hi autotech

Will give this  a try. One other question.  If this  was my only  drive and was in a new rig. I wouldn't be able to initialise the disk as it does not have  an OS  installed, how would I install it in that scenario.  Also, how should I set it up in the bios.

Thanks

In bios make sure you have it set to AHCI then save and exit as for the other question well if you find a way tell me maybe disk part or something like that i have always had a spare computer i can use for it even if it is a laptop i can plug it into using a usb to sata adapter.

you will need to download the AHCI drivers for your motherboard and put them on a USB stick.  In windows setup, choose load driver and select the driver from USB stick, then your SSD will appear

Hi guys
Just to let you know that I have sorted it.  Don't know what I did to be honest.   But installed and is working fine or so I think.  Do you guys know Any good apps to check that it's working fine?

Many thanks for the help. Appreciate it
