Hello all,
I have a 990XA-UD3 rev3 with an fx-8350 ( Vishera 4ghz ). Initially running 2 sticks of 4gb Corsair 1333 ddr3, and 7970 Radeon HD gfx. All power plugs are where they should be.
Powers up for a second, seems to reset, then powers on continually but no post. Any further attempts at powering on it simply powers up and doesnt post ( no restart ).
Having looked around at other issues with this mobo I then tried switching the cpu for a Phenom II x4 965, no luck. Changing cpu does make it restart - I assume the mobo is doing something here to reset itself to the cpu it detects, but I dunno.
Then tried switching out the gpu for an old Radeon 4870. No luck.
Pulled everything out of the board except the cpu, gpu and memory. No luck.
Tried using just a single stick of RAM. Shifted it around into different slots. No luck.
RAM works just fine on another board, as do both gfx cards and the older cpu ( new cpu I can't test ).
Any ideas ? At this point I am assuming I have fallen foul of this particular boards notorious hinkyness and am thinking of just going elsewhere - I didn't actually realise this mobo was a bit of a problem child until after I had purchased it - my experience with gigabyte mobos in the past has always been no nonsense work first time reliable products.
