G1.Sniper M5 won't power up without unplugging
« on: January 13, 2014, 10:34:23 pm »
I've recently built a new system around a Gigabyte G1.Sniper M5. Since I assembled it, it will not turn on after being powered down or going into standby mode. In order to power it on, I have to unplug it, wait until the power switch light on the motherboard goes out, and then plug it in again.

I have checked the power switch's wires and the same problem occurs even when I change out my XFX PSU for another manufacturer's PSU.

In the BIOS are settings for things like "ErP," "DeepSx Mode," "RC6" etc. Could any of these things be the matter? Could the problem be in Windows?

The specs for my system are:
Gigabyte G1.Sniper M5 (F7 BIOS)
Intel i7 4770K
32 GB DDR3 RAM
Samsung 840 EVO 500GB and Kingston 120GB SSDs
Gigabyte GTX 780 3 GB
XFX Pro Core Edition 650W PSU
Windows 8.1

I would try clearing the cmos. Then set it default setting and go back in disable some of those features.

Just go by the book to see what those feature do and which one you can disable, If that has no change.

Then I would go into windows and turn the sleep & standby modes off. When you pull the plug.

It will discharge all power that still making the board to stay on. Plus do one thing at a time too.

I know it will take some time. But if you do to many of them at once. You will not know which one fix it.

I have the same problem with my G1 M5 system. Is there any known solution? The power switch on the motherboard (although it does light up) and the chassis power switch does nothing when I try to start my system. It needs to be unplugged for approx 10 seconds and then it will start again. When the system is up it runs flawlessly.

I too have tried with a different PSU without improvement.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
