Memory speed problem on GA-B85M-D3H with Gskill F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

Hi, i am unable to get 1600mhz with my Gskill memory F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL on a Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H rev 1.0 , i try bios F7,F8 and F9a(beta).... the multiplicator is grey out to 14 so the memory work at 1400mgz.!!!

I already write to gigabyte and waiting for their reply,... made some research trough the web and other people have the same problem...(1400mgz) on that motherboard (B85M-D3H)

help me please!

Have you try it by what the book tells you what to do: I highlighted what you should have it set to.

Extreme   Memory   Profile   (X.M.P.)
Allows the BIOS to read the SPD data on XMP memory module(s) to enhance memory performance when enabled.
Disabled Disables this function. (Default)
Profile1        Uses   Profile   1   settings.
Profile2       Uses   Profile   2   settings.
System Memory Multiplier
Auto sets memory multiplier according to memory SPD
data. (Default: Auto)
Memory   Frequency   (MHz)
The   first   memory   frequency value is the normal   operating   frequency of the memory being used;   the second
is the memory frequency that is automatically adjusted according to the System Memory Multiplier settings.

Here is link and I know it isn't your board. Look at how he has it set and your's should be set the same way.

Agreed!

charley,
Default SPD speed for these modules is in fact 1600.

Possible causes and solutions:

Enable XMP as dmdilks suggests

Confirm you don't have a conflicting CPU/voltage setting causing an underclock.

This mem kit is on the QVL for your board so you should be able to achieve 1600Mhz

Thanks for your help, here is the pic of the bios...as you can see the first number is 1400mhz...the second one is 1599mhz. So my memory works at 1600mhz??

Again thank you very much for your support!

That is something I never see before. The Multiplier should be reading 16.00 and the memory should be at 1600 mhz too.

Have you tried one stick at a time. To make sure one stick isn't reading right. Is this your memory?

I know memory is memory but it does say this:

Feature: Compatible with Intel LGA1155/LGA1156 and AMD AM3/Llano/AM3+ platforms
Intel XMP support for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Generation Intel Core Processors

Yes it is my memory, i never see that before too, i will try with only one stick, in different slot and keep you post on it.... since its on the kvl list i dont know if the fact that they said compatible with Intel LGA1155/LGA1156 is an issue?!?!

Thanks

Other than that are you having any other problems? the board is reading all memory wrong. Maybe they will come out with a bios fix.

The board does have a 3 yr warranty. So if some thing does start happening you get it fix. One other thing send all the info you put here to support.

So i try every configuration possible with my 2 sticks, doesnt work, still show a multiplicator of 14....i also try with 2 other sticks of 1600mhz memory from other brand, same problem.... so it suggest a bad bios that have problem with memory with that board, have to wait for a new one, hopefullly sooner than later...

BUT, i try a bunch of benchmark (OCCT, Sisoft sandra) to stress all the component of the computer (memory in particular) it run trough it with no problem, very stable...no problem at all. So i hope that it will stay that way for the future till a new bios is release, hope gigabyte adress this issue, they are surely aware of the problem...

So thank you all for your help and support!!

Charley,
What other settings do you see/have under System Memory Multiplier when XMP Profile 1 is enabled above?  Don't use Auto...

You'll have to save and restart.  Enter BIOS again and let me know what you have.  If the target clock of 1599 is available below....  the system will use that XMP target with the correct settings.

The trick is saving the setting and re-entering BIOS.  You won't see it until you restart end enter BIOS again.
