[HELP ME!]Gigabyte z87x ud4h cold boot
« on: February 02, 2014, 05:06:04 pm »
Hello from italy ;

I have a very annoying problem with my new build , in the signature.
I believe that the cause of all evils , both my z87x ud4h (rev 1.0 sn131900015402 ) .
problem:
The motherboard is suffering from a strange problem with cold boot , if the PC is off for more than 2 hours when I turn on no signal video to vga , no bios , no post , but the operating system boots and debugged dispaly the motherboard indicates A0 code as when I'm writing , so no error logs , I also feel the sounds of windows but no video signal.

The My xfx 750w power supply and a core editon 80 + bronze :

test:

1 out of the case (cold boot)
2 Other psu (cold boot)
3 single bank of ram (cold boot)
4 using the integrated vga ( the cold boot does not show up )
5 r9 270x does not suffer from cold boot , tested on another motherboard
6 more vcc voltage ( cold boot )
7 thousand other tests ( cold boot )
8 bios f7 (cold boot)
9 clmos (cold boot)
10 I disable the integrated vga bios (cold boot)
The strange thing is that when the cold boot presents itself windows starts, if I turn off and turn on the PC over an hour and a half , the problem does not occur , but only after 2 hours.

I do not know what to think , this motherboard is a real fake ,

They can be bent pins on soket ? ...

Help me !

Thanks from Italy .

json,

Just wanted to clarify a few things.

Basically you are not getting video initialization from cold boot after the system has sat for longer than 2 hrs?

Is you item #9 Clear CMOS?

Onboard VGA does not suffer from the issue regardless of the time elapsed?

You've ruled out PSU and memory.  Your CPU is fine.

>>Its your video card.

Check with the vendor for updated firmware and flashing utility.

Exactly, cold start occurs after 2 hours of inactivity.
Tried it with another power supply and the problem persists.
Yes, with the itegrata the cold boot does not occur regardless

The rest I do not understand what you mean.

The cpu do you believe is defective?

I hope not?

Edit:

This configuration has 10 days of life.

This problem has always presented on the first day.

Then another clue:

I bought a z87x ud4h, came with bent pin on the socket, the retailer diets blame me and did not rma (replacement) of the motherboard, the problem of cold boot is featured on this card with bent pins, but there dieti weight because i knew I had to change the motherboard, because so much that he had bent pins.

After 5 days when I received this, the problem shows up again:

Is it possible that I caught 2 z87x ud4h with the same prolema? ...

I'm confused and disappointed for my new build.

I think your CPU is OK!

The likelihood of getting two bad boards is possible, but extremely unlikely.

If you've replaced the board, the issue once again points to your video card.

A timing issue might cause an intermittent display problem if aggressive BIOS settings are used, but if you tried with defaults and after a reset, it still appears to be a problem with the card, which may be OK too, but has some type of compatibility issue.  Hence the reason I suggested a firmware update.  May want to check for a BIOS update for your board as well.  ???

In fact, the only evidence that I am missing is to try another video card on the motherboard.

But at what firmaware do you mean?.
VGA or mainboard?

the bios of the mainboard is f7, f8 is still beta.

I do not know how to move.

I could give you another clue:

A couple of times, when there was the cold boot, the video signal is reached after a few seconds, when there was already practically the Windows desktop.

But they were not spending 2 hours but an hour and a half, the time factor propio I can not place it, this I can not understand ..

I think some capacitor discharges after a couple of hours and compromises the integrity of the signal, you think it's possible?

What is the PCIe slot set at? This is from the book:

VGA Support
Allows you to select which type of operating system to boot.
Auto Enables legacy option ROM only.
EFI Driver Enables EFI option ROM. (Default)
This item is configurable only when Fast Boot is set to Enabled or Ultra Fast.

Plus who is the maker of you card?

Could you speak a English / American, more linear?
I understand the terms of course, but not the way in which you have used.
I'm Italian.

What I'm trying to say is you can run the card UEFI or Legacy. That is why I ask what is the PCIe slot set at. Try changing it to Legacy.
