How to disable PCI start-up
« on: March 27, 2014, 09:31:20 pm »
Hi all,

I've got a Gigabyte Z87-HD3 with a PCI to PCMCIA cardbus controller.

It seems that every time I want to shut-down the system, it re-start again in 4-5 seconds.

This is caused by the cardbus controller; removing it solves the problem.

However, question is; how can I change the motherboard's setting to prevent a PCI device from starting-up the system (couldn't find it in the BIOS)?

Thanks in advance,

Capman

No there isn't anything the bios to turn those slots off. But make sure what you starting up in Init Display First. The other thing is changing PCI to Legacy. I don't know if that will help.

Init Display First
Specifies the first initiation of the monitor display from the installed PCI graphics card, PCI Express graphics
card or the onboard graphics.
IGFX Sets the onboard graphics as the first display.
PCIe Slot Sets the graphics card on the PCIEX16 slot as the first display.(Default)
PCI Sets the graphics card on the PCI slot as the first display.

Other PCI Device ROM Priority
Allows you to select whether to enable the UEFI or Legacy option ROM for the PCI device controller other
than the LAN, storage device, and graphics controllers.
Legacy OpROM Enables legacy Option ROM only.
UEFI OpROM Enables UEFI Option ROM only. (Default)

Thanks for helping out. I tried changing both settings and changing it to all available options, but still the problem occurs.

Any other idea's?
