GA-Z87-D3HP Z87 won't post with two RAM slots filled
« on: April 16, 2014, 12:52:03 am »
I purchased this board and two sticks of Patriot PX34G1333C9 (4GB) RAM. When I first tried to start the rig, the CPU fan would spin up for ten seconds or so, then stop, then start again, then stop...endlessly until I pulled power. No video at all, no POST. I scratched my head for an hour or so, trying different things, thinking I had done something wrong. Then, I searched online and found out about RAM issues with these boards. I pulled the RAM from Slot 3 and it booted right up. I hoped flashing the latest BIOS would cure the problem, but no luck. I tried switching sticks and using slot 2/4 but the only thing that works is a single stick in slot 1. Has anyone come up with a workaround for this problem? Thanks.

Brian

One thing can try is pull the CPU and see if you have any bent pins. The other is make sure you don't a stand off under the board in the wrong place.
