Gigabyte Sniper 3 PLX Problem

Gigabyte Sniper 3 PLX Problem
« on: May 05, 2014, 12:09:15 am »
Hello,

I just upgraded to Gigabyte G1. Sniper 3 motherboard. Upon opening up GPUZ, both of my GPU's were detected as running at PCIE 2.0 x16 x16. This board has a PLX chip so when running 2 way SLI both cards are supposed to be running at PCIE 3.0 x16 x16. NVIDIA control panel and HWINFO64 also confirms that both of my cards are running at PCIE 2.0 x16 x16.  Does anyone know why is this? I was previously using an Asus Sabertooth Z77 mobo and both cards were running at PCIE 3.0 x8 x8. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What bios are you running? F7 does Improve system compatibility.

Step 3:
Plug the display cable into the graphics card on the PCIEX16_1 slot.

(Note 1) The bridge connectors may be needed or not depending on your graphics cards.

(Note 2) When two or more graphics cards are installed, we recommend that you connect the SATA power cable from the power supply to the ATX4P connector to ensure system stability. For 4-way CrossFireX™/SLI, you must connect the ATX4P connector.

Procedure and driver screen for enabling CrossFireX/SLI technology may differ by graphics cards. Refer to the manual
that came with your graphics cards for more information about enabling CrossFireX/SLI technology
