Gigabyte Z97X Gaming GT and cpu 4790K

« on: June 03, 2014, 06:02:13 pm »
Hi,
I just bought a motherboards Z97X Gaming GT on which I would like to install a CPU 4790K.
Probably the motherboard comes with firt release bios F2.
The plate with this bios will recognize immediately the cpu?
Can still be able to allow to make the flash of the bios at the ultimate version?
I don't have a old cpu Haswell...
Thank you

Hi there,

the 4790 is recognised by the F2 BIOS so I would assume, from past experience, that the 4790K will also be recognised enough to allow you to flash the BIOS to F5 to gain full support for it.

If you want proper confirmation of this then you should really ask Gigabyte Technical Support here: http://esupport.gigabyte.com/Question/Tech?Country=Italy#2 as, most users of this forum are end users, like yourself and as the 4790k isn't actually available yet, we can only make educated guesses.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

It's ok!
The mobo recognize the 4790k with F2 bios, and so i have updated to version F5.
Now i have a new question:

Why mine 4790k running always at 4.4 Ghz? (see on cpu-z ver. 1.69.2).
In the bios (Advanced CPU Core Settings) i have setting C1, C3, C6/C7 on enabled but nothing.
Any solutions?
Thank you.

That one got me too. When i installed my 4790k it ran at 4.4 always so i manually set timing to 4.0 and turned off cpu boost in bios or some name like that, it is a setting that will automatically boost your cpu speed.
