Is there any thing else on the drive other than the bios update? Plus have you tried to update it to something older and do it in steps like f5.

One other thing what USB port are you trying it from. It should be in the USB 2.0 port.

also a side note does any one know if theres a UEFI bios for Z68AP-D3 Rev. 1.0 if so how do i get that bios :P and how do i install the bios

If you could go to the UEFI you would have more problems than you have now. If you want the UEFI I would upgrade to a newer board like the Z77.

That way you stay with most of the stuff you are using now. Plus UEFI is more for windows 8 than 7. The Z68 boards were really not made for that bios.

Every body that has try the bios has had problems. So if you get to F8 and everything is working I would happy with that if I were you.

One other thing too is what you decide to do with a upgrade down the road. If you are using a 1155 Sandy bridge CPU it doesn't support 3.0 video cards.

The Z77 boards support 3.0 video cards and you need a Ivory bridge CPU too. If you go with with a Z77 board the Sandy bridge should work.

But I'm just letting you know that you might run into some problems with the Sandy bridge if you want to use a 3.0 video card.
