Memory running low on Bios of 885M-D3H

I am using B85M-D3H for last 1 month with Intel G3220 Pentium CPU. Earlier I have 2GB of Kingston Ram which runs at 1333Mhz. I bought 4GB Kingston HyperX Fury 1866Mhz today and after installing I have seen that the Memory stick is running at 1400Mhz by default. I cant enable his full speed. What to do now? I have interchanged the stick in all slots but results are same.

Also that memory you bought isn't on the QVL.   I would return the memory and get some that was on list or at least 1600 MHz

As autotech has stated this motherboard has support for 1600MHz & 1333MHz modules.

This is shown on the Gigabyte QVL (Qualified Vendors List) of supported modules check here: http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-b85m-d3h.pdf This list shows which modules have been tested and approved by Gigabyte but I have to say from my own experiences that it is not definitive and modules not on the list may also work OK at the rated speeds of 1600MHz and 13333MHz. If you wish to run RAM modules faster than 1600MHz then you are really entering the realms of O/C'ing on this board.

That said, you may be able to get the RAM to run at its rated speed but this will involve manually setting things up in BIOS. The first thing to try would be to load the XMP settings and see if the system will POST/BOOT, if it does great. If it doesn't, then you will need to switch the Memory Settings to manual and probably tweak them to get things to run.

The difference in real time performance of 1866MHz RAM and 1600MHz is probably not that noticeable and in my opinion it is probably not worth the hassle trying to get these modules to run at the faster speed.

Absic is right and honestly I have boot a i5 with 1600 and the i7 with 2400 mhz.

I cant tell the difference when using either of them

Install cpuz and go to memory tab that tells you what it is running at, now go to the SPD tab that will tell you what they can run at. you are going to run them at 1600 so it would be the 800 tab.  The timings will be something like 11-11-11-29.

Now when you go into bios you can set them to run manually and set timings for what it shows you on screen. CAS#Latency and so on down the list. Or you can leave it optimized defaults in bios.

Now check.

I would leave that part of timing alone and just run it at 1600. Now after a while that it has been stable you could change it to  9-9-9-25-38 at 1600 If you run that tight of timings on 1600 will probable run better than 1866.
