Gigabyte Driver GhFlt

Hello there,

I have a GA-H97 Gaming 3 motherboard.

Every time I boot I get a message in Event Viewer saying service GhFlt not started due to missing file.

Google indicates GhFlt is a file signed by Gigabyte.
Microsoft's Autoruns utility indicates it is a driver file.

Installing Gigabyte Apps Centre doesn't make the error go away.

To stop the error message appearing, I have disabled the autostart via Autoruns, but want to find out if the driver is required or not.

So ... does anyone know what GhFlt is for ...?

Do you have an awnser to this already?
Is it save to shut this driver down?

Did you get this right from the start? What I'm asking is after you installed windows was it giving you that error.

Or did you install all the drivers and then it started.  Or did you uninstall some thing and it started?

Since starting this thread, I disabled GhFlt via the Autoruns utility, so I don't get this error anymore.

There's no information at all about GhFlt on the Internet, so I'm guessing it's perhaps some kind of custom service used by Gigabyte technicians for testing / monitoring mobo functions during product development, and references to it are meant to be removed once that job is done ... except that got overlooked, so the call to it is still there in end-consumer products, generating errors in Event Viewer.

Such a scenario would account for a total lack of information about what GhFlt actually is - that it's some sort of product debugging utility perhaps, intended for use by Gigabyte hardware developers only. But disabling it via Autoruns has not caused any ill-effects to my rig.

I have that error on my gaming g1 I also turned it off  when it started months ago. As far as I can tell it doesn't do anything. It does not affect performance in anyway.

Weird thing  Monday my G1 crashed the raid SSD drives so I secure wiped them and reinstalled windows and all drivers. The error did not come up this time but I don't install any applications and half the first screen like google chrome and so on I don't install. The error has not happened since I finished it yesterday.

One thing you can try is email support and ask them about the GhFlt. The only time something like this happens is because you uninstalled something.

Or turn something off in msconfig. That is why I ask you the questions. Or are you using a 3rd party software to turn stuff off. Or you uninstall something and it didn't uninstall right.

I was getting the error on a brand-new build, the very first time I installed and launched Windows 8.1, with only updated drivers for hardware, and no applications at all.

Perhaps the call to start the GhFlt Service was originally bundled with Windows 8, but has since been removed by Windows Update, which might explain why the error disappears down the track. So maybe it only arises when installing Windows from CD-ROM, and before downloading updates from Microsoft.

GhFlt is all a bit of a mystery really ...!

You don't have say any more. I'm a Microsoft Partner and I don't use windows 8 or 8.1. That OS is right there with Vista.

More than 50% of the threads are because people are using windows 8 or 8.1. That is why Microsoft is working on 10.

There some many things wrong with 8 that they can't fix all the stuff that is broke. I would not point my finger at Gigabyte I would point it at Microsoft.
