RAM frequency
« on: March 12, 2010, 07:37:44 pm »
I've got x58a-ud7 and the following RAM sticks:

Code: [Select]
OCZ 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 20000MHz Gold Memory Kit CL10(10-10-10-30) 1.65V
On the mother board the SYSTEM MEMORY MULTIPLIER (SPD) is set to AUTO which gives
me 1066Mhz memory frequency. Shall I increase the memory multiplier to 14.0 which
would give me 1867 of memory frequency?

If I change it it shows the following:

Code: [Select]
Memory Frequency (Mhz)    1066    1867
.. so it only changes the second value.

the motherboard manual says:
Quote
Memory frequency:
the first memory frequency value is the normal operating frequency of the memory being used;
the second is the memory frequency that is automatically adjusted according to the BCLK Frequency (Mhz)
and System Memory Multiplier settings.
I don't understand a word from what it says.

Also, the RAM I bought says something about 1.65V
Code: [Select]
the DRAM Timing Selectable (SPD) is set to AUTO, which gives the following values:
Profile DDR Voltage    1.5V
Profile QPI Voltage     1.175V

and below it alsow says:
DRAM Voltage 1.500V [auto]

Again, am I supposed to leave it like that or increase it somehow to 1.65V?

Thanks in advance

Hi Portia,

Yes, you will have to manually set voltage, timings etc., from within BIOS using the M.I.T. section.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

ok, thanks.
I've set those values manually. Everything seems to work fine
