GA-X99-UD4 No POST, No BIOS, No Boot - stuck in loop
qwerty:
Yes everything was connected, no the mobo was not shorted.
This will sound silly, i was expecting to do a full rebuild & reseat everything although it worked after I reseated the RAM & rear case fan.
Was able to install Windows and use it for 2 hours, upon rebooting for windows updates i got the same problem. Won't go past POST, no BIOS and won't boot. Holds for 5 seconds and then power cuts for it to repeat.
Pretty sure its either faulty RAM/BIOS needs updating, I'll be looking at it again this evening and update this thread incase others have the same problem.
wobble64:
I suspect you're right that the BIOS might be the problem. Simply use Q-Flash Plus as ex58 suggested.
qwerty:
Updated to F9c, only able to use 2x sticks of RAM. When i plug the other DIMMS in i get the same boot cycle.
Borderline infuriating, the memory isn't faulty and is listed here as compatible http://download.gigabyte.asia/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ga-x99-ud4.pdf.
I pay for 16GB and can only use 8GB.
wobble64:
Another annoying question, but just to be sure: did you put the ram in the correct slots? In the manual there is a diagram that shows which slots to use when you have 1 or 2 or 4 ram modules.
qwerty:
Yes, was the first thing i checked.
