990fxa-ud3 rev 1.0 problems

I purchased it one year ago but having some problems with it now.
I cannot overclock my cpu anymore because when the cpu gets under load the voltage will drop dramaticly and sometimes cause my pc to just reboot.

It also happened a few times when it was running at normal clock speeds that the voltage went down and the system rebooted.
The second thing is that the board gets very hot sometimes eventhough there is enough airflow in my case and all my other components are still cool.

The cpu is a FX-8320

only option to RMA the board or what do you guys think?

If i RMA it will i get a refurb rev 1.0? because those boards don't like overclocking..

Turn off any power saving features in bios. Also look for a setting for load line calibration and turn it of if that bios has the option.

When you RMA a board there is no telling what you will get back for sure. Yes they will be refurb boards but gigabyte does try to at least stay within the version you have or a newer one.  If the only one they have is a older version then yes that would be what you get.

all power saving features are turned off. And i have a rev 1.0 board so i don't have load line calibration 

I have also read hat the rev 1.0 board doesn't like the 8320 - 8350 cpu's because they ask too much from the vrm's.

i hope if i RMA it i get a newer revision so the problems don't come back.

any other idea's?

Not really all revisions of that board except rev. 4  seems to have that problem from what I have read.

I wanted to add that I overclocked a CPU at one time and about 6 months in it failed. Figured it was the board but I always have spares of most items so I put it in another board and still wouldn't overclock. I must of pushed it to hard and it would run at stock but not even a .2 overclock.   Gave that board and CPU to a friend.   So if you RMA the board and I know they have problems with your revision and say you get the revision you want and it still doesn't overclock then it is the chip.

You will get back the same board if they can fix it. If not they will send back the same version board that you have too.

Not mentioning why but 3 years ago I had to send in a board and it was covered by warranty. I sent in Rev. 1.0 I got back a 2.1.  At the time I was told it was all they had in stock as mine could not be fixed.

So it all depends on what they have at the given time, I will add that support actually emailed me and made sure it was ok for a different Rev.#.

Yes that does happen but more likely you get back the same board that you send in. I have RMA about six board and got every one of them back. I had one that was even smoking and got that one back too. Plus that one is still running too.

The best place to RMA a board is Intel. You setup the RMA. They will over night the board to you. You take the bad board put it in the box slap on the label they sent and you ship it back. It doesn't cost you anything.

Abit was almost as good it took a few more days with Advance RMA, but you paid to ship it to them.

How can they fix it if the problem i have only got fixed on the rev 4 board?
But then there i a chance still that they just send me a rev 1.0 back?

On mine I did an advanced exchange. Gave credit # and they shipped to me while I shipped mine back and that might be the difference.
