Gigabyte GA-Z97N-Gaming 5 and i7 4790k

Hi, i just wanna know if i7 4790k will work on Gigabyte GA-Z97N-Gaming 5 with F1 (bios).

I know it says F3 on the site, but i cant just go buy an 4770k, put it in and update bios and just go back to the store and tell him "hey, im done upgrading the mobo heres ur cpu".

So if it wont work is there another way to update the bios to F3 with i7 4790k?.

You should be able to update the BIOS using a USB drive without needing to swap CPUs or jumping through any hoops.  Review the BIOS update procedure in your user guide.

So it shud be possible for me to get into bios and update it if the CPU(4790k) isnt supported with F1?

P.S shudnt all the mobos by now be shipped with the lastest BIOS (F3)?.. F3 was released 5 months ago.

Depends on where you bought it and what they have in stock. Do as shadow suggested format a USB as fat then download and unzip to the USB the bios you need. Then start your computer and enter bios. Hit the button to use qflash in bios and it will update.

Do not turn off computer until bios flash is all the way done.

I recently got the Gigabyte Z97X-GAMING 7 and Pentium G3258. The BIOS version was also older than the one listed as required but it worked just fine and I updated it to the newest version. Both motherboards BIOS download contain the EFI flash tool to use in DOS.

I used the HP Flash Utility to create a DOS startup disk on a 2GB USB drive. Absic uses Rufus in this Guide to make a DOS startup disk. His flashing instructions for the EFI flash tool worked fine for me.
