Z87X-OC BIOS update to F9c
« on: January 17, 2015, 02:42:49 am »
Hi,

I'm fairly new to BIOS flashing and was looking to upgrade my BIOS from F3 to F9c. It seems that F9c is still in Beta. Are there any outstanding issues with this version? Also, when I try to reflash my BIOS in POST, I am given three options to run; run  autobat.bat, the BIOS version and the efiflash.exe. Which one should I select?

the bios version is the one you run if you pick the wrong one it wont flash. I would go to the last official release.

Thanks autotech. So just to confirm I have to select the bios version folder not efiflash.exe or the autobat.bat files?

Z87XOC.F8

That is the one you would pick, It is in the folder. extract to a USB formatted in fat32 then enter bios and hit the key to bring up the bios flashing tool. Do not flash from within windows to many times it will go wrong so flash from in bios. Then when the bios flashing tool comes up highlight the above file and hit go.

It seems F8 requires you to flash using efiflash.exe (http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4514#bios). Would your advice still be the same i.e. to use Z87XOC.F8 or use the efiflash.exe tool instead? Also, F9c seems really enticing as it has enhanced support for my K-series CPU. Would you still not recommend it?

Yes I missed the efiflash tool part. But yes follow the instructions then flash it using the proper tool.
