H55M-S2H continous boot loop

H55M-S2H continous boot loop
« on: March 21, 2010, 12:37:30 am »
Greetings.
My system is 2 months old and has an i3 and 2 (4gig OCZ sticks) running Windows7.
We returned from vacation today and the machine was off for 10 days.  I turned it on, read email, and surfed the web for about 15 minutes.  I then left the house for an hour with the machine on and came back to a blank monitor and a unresponsive machine.  When I rebooted the machine it now is stuck in a contiuous reboot loop with no video and no beeps.

Any ideas?   :'(

Thanks,
Robert

A bit of an update:
I pulled the memory sticks on purpose to see if the machine would beep, and it did.
Not sure if that's a good thing or not but I wanted to see if there was any life at all in the mother board.

Dude, if you haven't bought this MB yet, then I would SERIOUSLY advise against it.  I have had this for board for about 5 months now and have been suffering since.

I would gladly trade my problems for the whinning noise people speak of.  Oh of a little noise instead of my headaches.

I have -

1. reboot problem, won't reboot unless left for about 10 minutes to half an hour  to completely discharge. Even with the power cord disconected.

2. Often boots from cold with no graphics being displayed. which means you then have to leave it to discharge and hope for the best at next reboot.

3. Screen Goes blank in the middle of a task for no reason, system then may reboots itself if left for a few minutes or may just stay on with a blank screen dependin on its menstral cycle.

4. USB ports randomly stop working.  Sometimes this can be followed by a reboot, sometimes not.

5.  Boots up but USB ports may not work.

5. System stops responding for no apparent reason necessitating a reboot.

It takes about 3 days for me just to get the system up to working condition from a blank build because there are so many problems, failures and reboots that accompany it's operation.

So far I have tested changed all my memory, (Corsair  XMS3) so I've not got 12gb double what I had originally intened.  Brand new Original power supply Akasa Powermax 850 now changed to a new Corsair HX850 both great PSU's btw. Ive also swapped out my new GTX 470 for my old 8800gtx and all to no avail.  I'm running he latest F6 Bios and drivers from Gigabyte and still no joy.

I really went to pains to research and get  the best motherboard for my needs and it has turned out to be a lemon.  Not to mention the cost.  I really should have just bought an Asus.  Don't get me wrong I don't have anything against Gigabyte, but for the price you pay for this motherboard, this is LAME!... and very problematic.  Seriously! this thing gives twice as much trouble as my ex wife.

At any rate I'm going to try my luck and return it, failing that, i'm going to run over it with my car.

 :D

Oh I think my motherboard is waaaaay past help.  That definately makes this a rant, in addition to that is the fact that I posted in the wrong thread.  Still, thaks for the greeting, if the board miraculously comes to its senses, or the devil appears in my living room selling ice cubes I'll let you know.

Strangely though, it is comforting and a little warped to know I'm not the only one with these issues.

I do understand how you feel and if it's any consolation I think most of us have been there at one time or annother. Anyhow if you want to have another bash at sorting it I am quite willing to help. ;)

Thanks.  To be honest I think this board is either faulty or just badly designed.  Probably the latter seeing the number of people with similar issues.  Given that I've changed pretty much everything, and done the circuit with proposed fixes, updates and configs its more or less a lost cause now.  Shame because it promised so much, and does look good.  RMA in doesn't seem to be the answer as so many have the same problems.  I've notice some folks here have RMA'd  3 times and issues remain, so it hardly looks like a bad batch issue which I know sometimes does happen.

Your right though, it has happened to all of us, and considering the number of motherboards that have passed though my hands over the years, I shouldn't complain.  This one has actually been the worst though because it is acutally unusable.   I just kept on and on at it and refused to be beaten while all the time using my laptop.  No games for 5 months, never thought I could do that without withdrawal symptoms so I suppose all is not lost :D .    Actually I've called it a day and  just now taken the plunge and ordered a Asus P6X58D-E.  It was my second choice after this MB but I just want a working machine.

As a matter of interest Jim have you checked the CPU socket for bent pins?

Yes I checked, they are all perfect.  one of the first things I did when I started getting these weird problems was strip the board and remove all the components for a physical check. It's pristine.  Physically anyway.

Just seems a shame to give up on it. I always hate being beaten by a problem.

I know what you mean, but believe me 5 months is enough torture.  I really have exhausted my options on this one.  But like I said earlier, I think this is just a flawed design or production, because so many people are having issues, so I dont' feel bad about chucking this one back.
