Looking for a heatsink for P55-UD6

hello all, currently i am thinking about grabbing a new heatsink for my i7 on the P55-UD6 mobo, i am leaning towards the Tuniq tower 120 extream because it seems to be one of the top heatsinks, and it looks cool. however should i look for a heatsink thats like the stock intel with a fan blowing down so it also cools my 24 phase power and other components around the cpu?

No the tuniq tower will be a better option than the circular intel-like ones. The surrounding components wont need aditional cooling unless you're going for an insane overclock

Currently I tend to favor the Noctua D14 and Venomous-X to name but two, I like the Prolimatech stuff too, well worth a look.

just an update, i went with the thermaltake frio with the fans in a push pull config. have had this heatsink for quite a while, with the antec 900 and now my corsair obisian 800D. this heatsink works great with both cases, however if you are looking at the frio and are useing an antec 900 case be prepares to make modifications to the side window panel as the heatsink hits the top fan clip. even with out a fan i could not use the side panel with this heatsink untill i removed the plastic part of the panel entierly, i later cut out the triangle like part of the window and put in my own peice of acrylic.

Hi and thanks for the update. Glad you found a cooler that you like. Can you post a picture of the modded Antec case too? I did a similar mod on my CM HAF 932 tower You can see pictures of it in the modding section. I never liked the mesh panel on the side or the criss crossed top panel so I changed them a bit.

i would also reccomend thermaltake frio, no modding needed in haf932 and my temps whent from 40c idle 65c load stock versus 33c idle only 2c above case temp and more impressive 43c loaded 950i standard clock with both fans set to medium, only negative the two fans are a little noisy, may change them for motherboard speed control see if this helps.also comes with some top class t,paste

If you want a quieter solution that will take temperatures down even further then get hold of  a Noctua D14, almost silent.
