PCI data acquisition and signal processing controller (Code 28)

The board here is the X99 SOC Force and have had this "PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller" problem with an unsigned driver? (a Google search landing me here at the forum). With the occurrence happening after the BIOS was updated on the X99 SOC Force board, before the "PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller" error was not noticed?

A problem appeared after a Crucial M.2 type internal SSD had been installed. This was / is that it is not showing in the BIOS boot menu and does not show in the Windows 7 (64Bit) management either. Gigabyte support suggested that the BIOS be updated to the latest version and also that because it was not on the list of “preferred” devices that it may not work. The SSD appears on the Crucial website as being compatible (as below)…

Crucial MX200 250GB M.2 Type 2280 (Single Sided) Internal SSD

M.2/NGFF (2280) Single Sided • 555 MB/s Read, 500 MB/s Write
Upgrade for Giga-Byte GA-X99-SOC Force system.

It was assumed that the difference of “Official” opinion, was due to the connector on the X99 SOC Force board with its advertised “Turbo M.2 Technology M.2 socket, unlocking up to 20 Gb/s of bandwidth” with only a small number of manufacturers having this “guaranteed speed” technology. So that anything other than the listed M.2 SSD may be lacking in speed so therefore would not be listed by Gigabyte as they (the “other” M.2 type SSDs) may lead to poor publicity!

My shopping list was simply
  • M.2 PCIe connector
  • Socket 3
  • M key
  • Length types (2242, 2260, 2280)
Is the reason that the type of key on the Crucial MX200 250GB M.2 Type card is one that does not work? Although crucial does seem to offer a 100% guarantee that it is compatible.

100% compatibility - guaranteed!
Without a doubt, compatibility is the most important factor in buying a memory upgrade for your laptop or computer. Your RAM must be compatible with your system — or your system just won't work. With so many variations in memory, it's important to understand just exactly what will work — and what won't — in your system. Using the Memory Advisor or Scanner on Crucial.com is the best way to ensure compatibility. 100% guaranteed. Or your money back.
