8320E on 78LMT-S2P bios F3
« on: July 23, 2015, 04:32:07 pm »
So just over a month ago I picked up an 8320E to upgrade from my 4100. So far, I've seen a decent performance gain until I decide to get a new MB and Intel CPU.

However, after looking at the CPU supported list, it says the 8320E was last supported on the F4b bios, when I am using it on the F3 bios.

So is there any benefit in updating the bios to the beta version, or should I leave it as it is?

Thanks, Will.

Hey Will,
I'm no expert, but if its working, you probably don't need to upgrade.  Typically, you need to upgrade when the BIOS cannot correctly identify new CPU microcode / architecture.  If the CPU is properly detected in BIOS and OS you should be ok.

Now, (here's the caveat)  If you notice any performance issues or are over clocking, then upgrading would be recommended.  This might resolve / enhance voltage problems, timing issues, thermal efficiency, but again if you aren't noticing anything abnormal, chances are you're good.  Others here may have more to add.

Hi, sorry for the late reply.

I updated to F4b and it seems to be stable anyway. I will be getting a 970A-UD3P so I can try and overclock my CPU.

Thanks.
