GA H55M-S2 and 2x4GB 1600 mHz Kingston HyperX Savage problem?
« on: September 01, 2015, 07:20:21 pm »
Hi! I am using mobo Gigabyte H55M-S2 as u see and i just bought 1 Dual Channel Kit of RAM KINGSTON HyperX Savage 4 GB , 1600 mHz. So the problem is that my mobo supports up to 1333 mHz DDR3 and if RAM is OC it supports to 1666. My new RAM sticks are 1600 mHz and normally it shouldn't start with 1600 mHz freq. So BIOS automatically swap to 1333 mHz and PC still doesn't want to boot. After this I lower the CAS Latency, I tried to change multipliers, I tried XPM Profile1, already tried to change freq to lower value than 1333 and ram is still not working like it must be. So I decided to try other RAM DDR3 1600 mHz. I get 2x4 GB Kingston Genesis which are quite similar to mine but same thing happened. I tried it with brand new SSD HyperX Savage 120GB, i tried with my old (which have O.S. Win7 x64) and i have no idea what should be my next step? btw I update BIOS cuz it was F3 and i found that F4 had improved memory support. Everything is working fine with my old 2 sticks of Kingston DDR3 2GB 1333 mHz.

PC Conf.:

Motherboard - GA H55M-S2 (F4)
RAM - 2x4GB Kingston HyperX Savage 1600 mHz
CPU - IntelCore i3-540 (supports 1333 mHz of RAM)
VIDEO - NVIDIA Palit GTX 760 2 GB , 256 bit
PSU - CHIEFTEC 500W

Memory Specs for your board:
1.2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory (Note 1)
2.Dual channel memory architecture
3.Support for DDR3 2200+/1800/1600/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules
4.Support for non-ECC memory modules
5.Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules
* To reach DDR3 2200 MHz and above, you are required to use with Intel Core i7/Core i5 CPU without HD Graphics and install a discrete graphics card.
When using Intel Core i5/Core i3/ Pentium CPU with HD Graphics, the maximum memory speed supported is 1666 MHz
 * Go to GIGABYTE's website for the latest memory support list.

Compatible memory:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3310#memory%20support%20list

Processor max is 1066/1333

http://ark.intel.com/products/46473/Intel-Core-i3-540-Processor-4M-Cache-3_06-GHz

Only 4GB DIMMs supported are HyperX Genesis - Only this model

Savage....  In theory, you might get it to work, but you will have to spend the time (trial and error) determining the correct settings manually since XMP won't work. Finding the correct settings may prove impossible / challenging.  :-\

I already tried genesis man ... 2 x 4 GB 1600 mHz. Btw this mobo which u listed is H55M-S2h mine is without "h", only H55M-S2 but i don't think this will make any difference.. I have no idea from where to start i spend 2 days and no results for now. If you can write me what to touch in particular. I've learned the whole f****n bios haha. So yea mark the most important settings which u think I must change?

hi,   IMHO  u unable to use both sticks  that was mentioned above.
Your i3+mobo only accept older version of  genesis  KHX1600C9D3/4G , but they are very rare now.

p/s:so sorry for my broken english.

please take a look:

Just found that , kingston had revised their KHX1600C9D3/4G in the early of 2014 ,
the new revision MAY NOT compatible to H55M-USB3 . pls ensure u got
the "sixteen 256M x8-bit FBGA" for your H55M-USB3

new revision:

DESCRIPTION
HyperX KHX1600C9D3/4G is a 512M x 64-bit (4GB) DDR3-
1600 CL9 SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM), 1Rx8 memory mod-
ule, based on eight 512M x 8-bit FBGA components
.This
module has been tested to run at DDR3-1600 at a low latency
timing of 9-9-9-27 at 1.65V.The SPD is programmed to JEDEC
standard latency DDR3-1600 timing of 11-11-11 at 1.5V.

....
blah..blah..blah...

the original revision  is sixteen 256M x8-bit FBGA, pls ensure u got the right thing , if anyone intend to upgrade their core2duo or first generation i3,i5,i7 system :
