Gigabyte EX58-UD5 is compatible with memory 2133 Mhz /16gb?
« on: October 25, 2015, 07:42:09 pm »
Hi,

I have a Gigabyte EX58-UD5 motherboard with 3x2GB of kingstone memory, now I would like to upgrade my computer with the following memory:

Kingston HyperX Savage DDR3-2133 16GB (2x8GB) CL11
Product code: HX321C11SRK2/16

Do you think it will be ok?

Looking to the Memory compatibility list there is no reference to it, but it state that memory 2100 + mhz are compatible..

Thanks!

The memory controller is in the CPU. For example, an Core i7-960 memory specification is
Memory Types:  DDR3 800/1066
http://ark.intel.com/products/37151/Intel-Core-i7-960-Processor-8M-Cache-3_20-GHz-4_80-GTs-Intel-QPI

Gigabyte EX58-UD5 is compatible with memory with DDR3 2100+/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules.

HX321C11SRK2/16 will try to boot up at DDR3-1600 CL11-11-11 @1.5V
If you are not overclocked, I doubt you will be able to boot up at 1600MHz speed.
1) GA-Z97X-Gaming 7, G3258,
2) GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev. 1.1, FX-8350
3) GA-AM1M-S2P, Sempron 3850 Kabini

Thanks Tiger for the answer.

I have a Intel i7 920 @ 2.67GHz, 2793 Mhz, I think is the following:

When I bought it it was quite a good processor and I am not overclocking, I think that those RAM will be good, or not?
