GA-B85M-HD3-A (rev. 1.0) Boot Loop with continuous short beeps
« on: February 16, 2016, 12:24:50 pm »
Does anyone have the beep codes for this board?  I'd rather get pointed in the right direction before I start draining the oil to re-seat and replace anything.

It has worked perfectly fine for about a week now.  But a day ago I turned it on and it just beeps at me for about ten seconds (I counted about 30 beeps) and it restarts.

As far as I understand it's an AMI UEFI BIOS but I can't seem to find an AMI list of beep codes that contain "unending short beeps" or any derivative.  I'm also finding conflicting information on AWARD BIOS beep codes for "unending short beeps" that say either RAM or PSU...

PLEASE be RAM :P

Check the FAQ here: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=2248.0

It covers both AMI and Award BIOS.

If I remember correctly, continuous short beeps indicate a power problem in both BIOS systems.

Thanks Absic.

I've seen it yes, but the continuous beeping is only referred to in an Award BIOS.  But this board is an AMI UEFI BIOS.

Or am I reading incorrectly?

No my bad.

On award BIOS short continuous beeps would normally indicate a RAM problem.

Removed the ram and it was fine.  So that's VERY weird that it would beep like an Award BIOS when it's an AMI BIOS.  Thanks Absic.

dmdilks, dude, really?  This is for you:
