X58A UD3R rev 2.0 12gb ram 1866 issues
« on: February 23, 2016, 11:39:29 am »
I own a x58 a ud3r and i am having ram issues with sometimes part of the ram not being detected. Ram is from.corsair and has been tested thoroughly. It runs fine at 1066 but i really.wanted it.running at the rated speed.  Its two.different kits but same timings same everything. All ram.slots are busy.
System as it stands crashes fairly often and i had a feeling the ram setthings could be the culprit
Please advise.thank you and sorry if this has been posted before

It will not run at that speed if you are trying to use the XMP. Your CPU only supports 800/1066 memory.

Support for DDR3 2200/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules. Sorry that memory isn't even listed in the specs.

If you have 1333 vs 1866 there is really no difference in speed. People think putting in faster memory it is going to run faster it isn't.

This is a desktop computer and not a server computer. In server computer you see a difference in desktop you will not.

This system booted fine on 6gb ram ar that speed and even with some medium oc 3.8 ghz. Ram used to go to 1920mhz! If you check the qvl list it says only ONE dimm per channel on the 1866 area. Now i assume that to use all the 6 slots i'd have to bump up the voltage but i am unsure what voltages and if soemone has this experience.

That is right because you did a little OC on the CPU. But the more you put in the more you have to OC. The more memory the more it will stress the CPU. what is the volts on the memory like 1.65. If so you can try and bump it up to 1.67 or 1.68 don't do to high.
